Why do we like to win or succeed or impress someone? We crave the approval, the recognition, the glory. It's human nature. Essentially, anything good that a person does is for the glory, or it makes them feel good, which is self-approval. Heroic self-assertion is a depressing thought.

I am so nervous. Only a few more hours until we find out who our new president is for 4 years. This is a big deal. It appears that Obama is winning right now, but if McCain ends up winning, I can't even comprehend the idea.

I must recommend the website http://www.palinaspresident.us/ . Just click around to have tons of fun.

GOOOOOOOOBAMA!

Is there a difference between a Snickers and a Baby Ruth bar?  Or do they just have different wrappers?

First of all, congrats to Calla and all of the people who won awards. I'm glad that the winners got some well deserved recognition.

And, holy fuck. I am a part of a psycho bitch fandom. Whoa man, the death threats are a little extreme.

Fellow LiveJournalers. I am leaving tomorrow morning for the land down under, and will not be returning until really late on the 29th. Considering I am travelling as an ambassador, I doubt I will have any internet access unless I steal someones WiFi using my IPod. Plus I won't have a lot of time to use the internet for anything other than emailing even if I do get on. Which means that I won't be updating, or sadly, reading/commenting on any fic. Expect a super long post when I get home, and I have any brain power. Much ♥♥. Rachel

Vacation Time!

I'm in Long Beach Island until next Saturday. Because I will be swimming and tanning and avoiding my sister and her friends, my comments, etc are going to be oddly spaced. I'll check for updates a few times, but I have less time to stalker refresh.

 First of all,
My personality type: the individualistic doer

I've been sick since Tuesday, and it has involved vomiting, barely eating, and a trip to the ER last night. It sucks.

Finals and tests and projects next week. But then a trip to a water park and a dance on Friday. Then graduation Monday, and last day Tuesday. I'm done with this school year.

So much to do, so little time. Blarg.

thank you for air conditioning

Holy crap. It is like 100 degrees in my town. I almost melted today during class. We live in a wealthy town, buy some air conditioning.

Except, I just got a message call from the superintendent. No school tomorrow due to excessive heat! Thats almost as awesome as the rain day I had last year.

Tomorrow I am getting an ultrasound done on my bladder. It involves drinking 32 ounces of water, then not peeing. I was SUPPOSED to miss school for it, but noo. Oh well.

That means I have 6 full days, a trip to see Legally Blonde, a trip to a water park, and 2 half days of school left.

My softball team could make it to the championship. Again. Going for my 4th straight champion trophy here. =]

I truly have no life. While people go out, I make wallpaper out of icons that I take from people. How cool am I?

Today I made chocolate mousse, and a strawberry chocolate tart. Then I went out to dinner. We ordered a prime rib and a 6 1/2 pound lobster. It was major quantities of food.

Nuff said.

He jumped onto the table- a new trick of Charley's. Anyone want to take bets on when he and his extra large hollow head will dominate the world?

If you had to pick which to sing for a talent show which would you pick?

A) Mamma Mia- Requires no talent, will involve crowd, covered by ATeens, clearly with in range, corny, and fun to dance to.

B) Legally Blonde- More of a singing song, sadder, much harder to sing, slightly out of range, better song to listen to, quieter which means mistakes are more auditable.

I'm having trouble picking, and don't want to sound stupid. Any opinions are much appreciated.

Grey's Thoughts

Last night. Was why I watch Grey's Anatomy. I seriously jumped for joy at 9:45 when there was an hour to go.

Today, I watched I Am Legend instead of having 3 classes. It was a waste of time, and an awful movie. I daydreamed about Grey's Anatomy for a lot of it. I am thankful for Memorial Day, because it gives me a longer weekend. On Tuesday, I am going on a day cruise, with a DJ. It should be fun. I am in a very good mood right now, and I am kind of hoping that nothing is going to spoil it.

Oh, I got a whole bunch of new icons. Wahoo.

Oh my god. Grey's Anatomy. Why I started watching. Keeping it spoiler free, but more to come tomorrow. Just wow.

Gossip Girl and House were amazing.

But, dude, American Idol, David Bonanza. The winner... (spoilers ahead if you aren't east coast)

On a real life note, I was in a concert today with my 8 other classmates in musical theater. Vocal is normally awful, and we are normally very good, so it was a shock when we were not great. People liked it, but I guess compared to everyone else, we sounded off of Broadway.

And, more singing. I plan on singing Mamma Mia for the talent show in 2 weeks. I am excited!

Charley now knows how to climb onto chairs, so he can climb onto the table and eat everything, like paper, food, wine, phones, etc. Nothing is safe.

I played hooky from school today, except my parents told me I could. When I woke up, I should have been taking a test on Islam and the Muslim empire. While I finally watched Grey's, I should have been reading a Midsummer Nights Dream. As I am typing this, I should be in Spanish. I like skipping school.

Tomorrow I am going to the Mets Yankees game. It should be intense.

Charley, while impossibly cute with his too big head, is pretty stupid. It amuses me though, so I love him anyway. I have taken to calling him a nimrod.

Today has been a good day so far, except for that its raining. I hate rain.

Guess who is going to the Yankee's game tonight, even if she is technically a Mets fan? Me! Missing American Idol, and ANTM though.

Standardized testing is possibly the most annoying thing ever. 4 days worth- 2 English (which I finished thank god), 1 math (which I find easy because I'm weird), and  1 Science (which I'm a bit worried about because my Science teacher last year was pretty bad. I did do well in that class though.) English is the worst, with the "Write a short story about a band that needs new uniforms for the Orange Bowl, and how they get them. 25 minutes, GO!" parts. Or a 5 paragraph literary essay in 45 minutes. I never, ever finish. And such stupid questions, like "2 parts from the story that make you think it takes place in earlier times." Um, well, the letter was dated 1897. And she included a penny for postage. On the bright side, one teacher promised Dunkin Donuts on Friday. And no homework.

Roller blading will be the death of me. 2 weeks starting the most recent Monday in gym class. I haven't had to yet because of strange scheduling, but I do tomorrow. Around the track which is bumpy and has hills. Last year I crashed into a fence. My plan is to convince the teacher I am bad enough to stay on the flat part. Shouldn't be too hard.

I had to have a physical so I can try out for cheerleading next year. Of course, I haven't had one in a few years so they decide to give me a bunch of shots. I had blood drawn from my finger, plus ones for meningitis, tetnis, and chicken pox. I thought I had all of those already..  Anyways, this was last night. Today I wake up with sore arms, a sore body, a headache, and a sore throat. And a 100.4 fever. All of this, but there was no school to begin with, so I didn't get to miss it. Where is the justice in getting sick if it doesn't get you out of school? And why did shots make me sick? Another reason onto the long list as to why doctors suck.

I found out today that I can access LiveJournal from my IPod. Along with all other websites, plus I can get directions, watch YouTube, and do all of the regular ipod stuff like listen to music. Its pretty sick.

We brought Charley, our new puppy, home today. I am kind of in love with him- he is so cute. Of course, on the drive home, he went in his travel crate, leaving us to breathe through our mouths for 45 minutes. He also likes to bite tails, eat toes, fingers, arms, hair, etc., and run away from threatening dogs barking at him.
